There is more to getting prospects to attend an event than ringing them and asking them if they want to register. We know that even a free to attend event needs selling. You need to sell all of the interesting elements of the event that will appeal to your contact personally and get them to imagine what they will do there.
It is not good enough to call up previous attendees or prospects and to just offer to register them and send them their badge without involving them in a conversation about the event, the result will be bad conversion rates at the event.
When running a conversion campaign we usually talk to pre-registered attendees about which conference sessions they would like to attend, if they can pre-book sessions and maybe refer them to the online matchmaking portal and explain the advantages. This is more effective than just calling to ask if they are planning to attend and on what day for example.
